Dear Ketschau Family.
Today I find the time to write to you. I am well and I expect the same from you. On January 28th we left Weimar and got here on Jan. 30th. We are detailed to a Field Troop here and found that place ok. We live in private houses, I am on a farm, the Farmers Name is Lüdeckewin but I don’t know the name of the village , anyway, thay talk much different German than we do home, the weather is very much colder, my face has cracks in the skin from the cold. How are you, what is the mood at home, anyone else has been drafted into the Wehrmacht? I hope Artur is still there because we shall not be coming home , well, at least not before the war is over. We all hope that the year 1941 will bring us final Victory so we can go home and do our jobs. Erich knows what war means you was a soldier in the last one.
Now I will close and hope the letter reaches you in good health like I am when I wrote this letter.
Greetings to all of you, Artur.

I wrote Lottchen yesterday, and waiting for a reply, I hope I don’t have to wait. Have to save on paper, so I only use half a page.
