Jena March 6th 1942
Dear Parents and Werner.
Greetings to you all from Jena. I am well again after the short illness and hope you are well too. Today I got your letter from March 4th and a card from Werner out of Weimar. This morning I went for a check up in hospital but was certified well, to resume duty again. I talked to my Corporal and he told me to put in application for a weekend furlough for Saturday.he will support me. On Tuesday I will put the application in, make sure you have slaughtered something for meat. if I come, we will have a feast, if I don’t, well, I can not alter it so you have it all. But I have high hopes to be home for Sunday Dinner. I will go to Jena on the train to Weimar, on Friday and next early morning I get the Weimar Train home. I hope Werner can come on Saturday too. Did you get the fountain pen I asked for? I lost mine somehow, right now we have bad weather, snow everywhere, and very cold too. It seems the winter will not let up this year. I suppose at home is the same weather, all is well I hope? I will close now so write soon, and lets hope I see you Saturday.
Your Artur.
