Dear Parents and Werner.
First Greetings from here in the East and I am well, and hope that you are too.
Today I got letter # 23 from June 4th . I can not understand why you don’t get mail from me. In these last few weeks I have written every day.
Yesterday I even send an Air mail letter, and send you some air mail stamps too. We get them monthly with our salary. I keep two and send you two, . Airmail from here home seems to go faster, for me, but other Comrades tell me it takes the same time as surface mail. I think Papa is right now, they recruited you 2 years ago but now they think they can do without you. How long I shall be a soldier I do not know. Maybe 2 years and I will do them as told. The Parcels that you had banded together with string were mostly undamaged. If Artur Dornbergers Battalion is in Hamburg, he has a long trip ahead for his recovery furlough. Our Battalion is still recruited in Jena ,. So how far are you with weeding, and is the weather ok for it?
For now I will close , write soon and give my Greetings to all.
Yout beloved Artur. \
Today I also got a letter from Herbert Haupt. Greetings from Ernst too.
