Dear Parents.
Sending you greetings from here. I am well and hope you too. Today I had your letters #14 and 15 and the newspaper. Also a letter from Fritz Rose, and thank you very much all. But I am so glad that you got the harvest almost in. Sorry I could not be home to help, but lets hope that the war soon will be over. I only we could leave this damn Russia , I rather would be in France, at least I know that there are decent people living.
To our right flank we have a Regt of sharpshooters, all experts and older type men. Thank you for the parcels with lemon juicy powder. I had a letter from Roses Fritz and he is now attached to a March Battery that means it wont be long now until he shows up on the front.
Well, that will be all for now, so I send you Greetings and hope for a reunion soon.
Your son Werner.
