Ukraine Aug 6th 1941

Dear Parents and Grand Dad!

Will write again and give you the date so you are not worried again. I am well, these last 8 days I had more comfortable life than you at home. Our job was it, to hold the front at Kiev until the pocket is closed and in a day or so our main attack will unfold. Our Battery so far had 10 dead and many wounded and when they fought in France in 1940, they had 2 dead. This enemy is entirely different from France, they hide in rye fields but we flush them out. How far are you with the rye? Mother is on the Binder, better than tying shocks ,when you got the time , write in detail about it. Also send me Cookies, Sausage , Maggi Cubes, some Sugar Shoe Polish and some socks. Let me know whether you had the money and the Credit Marks, Have you got the Grain mill from

Watermanns? I enclose today some money too, 30 Marks, Stay all well, Greetings to all Neighbors and glad to get the letters.

Your Heinrich.

Tis letter was in a parcel he mailed home.
