Braunschweig June 6th 1944

Dear Parents and All!

Tonight I am writing from Braunschweig and the nice weeks are over and gone. How long I have to stay here I don’t know I don’t think we will stay for long here. The reformed 111" Division is reforming in Northeim and from there we shall be going to the front. The 20 Marks I got yesterday, did not take long to get here, today the Sgt Major told me, that as of June 1* I am an Corporal and get a better pay a month. I note the Bank Account Pass number as 54 is that right? Let me know incase it is wrong. I will apply for a weekend furlough too this week and hope it is granted. On special days Parents can come to visit here but I wont be long here now, it looks like there will be a decision this summer in the war. The Invasion has started this morning, it will be a hard summer for us, and the Russians getting ready for a new offensive. We have to put our trust in God and hope that one day the human race comes to its senses. I wish I could hear a Radio now to hear the news from the Invasion. Well, Good night and all the best.

Heinrich.
