Dear Parents!

Yesterday I was transferred to another Company I wonder what they have in store with me. I am back to the same times as when I was a recruit. Up front in the trench I am supposed to play Sgt as a Corporal and the future for me looks very dim if] don’t get back to the Artillery. My only solace is, that everybody else here is in the same danger as I am. So you better be prepared for bad news from here. Right now it is quiet here at the front. But as always, the day of slaughter is not far away and I can not think of home now but you keep on praying, my whole live is in God’s hands

Many Greetings Heinrich.
