Russia March 7th 194%,

Dear Brother in law and Lina.

It has been a while since I was able to write so today its time to write a letter to you. I am now 2 years away from home and I believe it will take another 2 years before we even think of coming home. And it is a year ago, that I was home on furlough. Who knows before we can even think of furlough again. I would never ever have dreamed of it years ago. I am well as well can be, and I hope the same from you, and that is the best thing that we get home one day with our good health. Please excuse when I write not that often, most times we don’t have an opportunity for it, not much paper, no time. I even have not written home to Udestedt lately. Yesterday I run out of Writing paper , the parcel restriction is still in force, by noon I have not a crust of bread left to eat. Let us hope we get out of here, the cold is not so bad now, and to us it is like minus 10 at home. Nothing else is new, I told you I was promoted to Corporal. The Russian are busy sending their Artilley shells over, the whole Bunkers is shaking. I was in the village this morning and got some frozen potatoes, I boiled them and fried them in coffee suds , back home one would not even look at that, but here a soldier eats anything. Artur wrote me that they were issued summer uniforms already, so it wont be long before we start an offensive again. I will close now, and lets hope to see you again.

Greetings to all

Artur.
