Dear Parents and Werner.

Today at last came the first mail from you. It was the letter from the 21* and I also had a notification about the 40 Marks that came. Now I send you the best Greetings from here . Yes I can imagine that you was very worried when you got the letter from me, but please do not worry, it is not that bad. How it got about that I was wounded I told you in my last letter, and the Sgt has promised to write to you but I have not seen him. Neither did I see my friend Ernst before I was transported to the Base hospital. I wrote to Artur too, whether he has written to you I do not know. I hope that Werner is going back to the school in Weimar this winter. When will you start the trashing box up? Will you do it in the next few days? It is such a shame that I can not be part of it, but there is nothing we can do about it. You wrote that motor takes on water, I think that the cylinder gasket is gone, change the water and try it again. So Edwin was promoted to Sgt, at last he has made it. When and where did Afred get killed, it is such a shame , he was a great friend, and one of the best from the Family. But what good has it all done, how many of my old Schoolmates are death now?

I will close for now , send me writing paper, and write soon , I hope to see you one day again.

Your Artur.
