Dear Parents and Grand Dad !
We just have a lunch break and the rest of the troop is gone for firing practice but our gun is in repair . Outside it is raining all day and its typical for this area. Last night I saw a Theater show in the Pilsudski Castle . Your last parcels have arrived too, but I think my Butter will go bad in this weather. I don’t need anything in the next 2 weeks now, . I can not write much , things are secret here , dear Grand Dad, you keep on feeding the horses , are the cows out of the shed now and in the field? Have you had any rain lately? After a furlough , all things from home are of interest more than being away for 6 months. I think you have to do something to stop the water seeping into the cellar .yesterday I was out in town with my horse and cart and delivered straw sacks to Army camps.. My trip took me through the Jewish Quarters and makes one sick to see these “ Abrahams, Rebeckas and Saras “ .
My salary is ok, it keeps me in money, but we don’t get Beer from Dortmund neither writing paper. You can send some and shaving soap Send me the soap dish that I left at home. Stayed all well . The Farming here is not much to crow about, there are to many ditches here in them fields and nothing can be done in the fields with machines . As the tractor service to come from Hannover and so I send you Greetings
Heinrich.
