In the East Sept 23 1944

Dear Parents.

Greetings from here and I hope all is well like I am. Thank you for the letter #23. Glad to hear that the thrashing was successful and all went well. Was the quality ok? Here in the area a lot has not been cut yet, nobody is working in the fields , in some places the rye and oats are falling over flat to the ground. In the next few days I will send you some more tobacco, Cigarettes and Cigars. I have stopped smoking more or less. We do get a lot of tobacco items here. Did you get my last parcel I mailed with Chocolate? So all is well at home then, and I will close now and let us hope for a reunion soon

Your Werner.
