Russia June 22nd 1944

Dear Erich and Lina!.

Greetings from Russia sends you Fritz. Sorry I did not write before but it was just timely impossible. We had been on the retreat from the Caucasus for 6 months and finally we in a rest area in Romania .Also, your letter I finally got in Feb 44 and I am so sorry to hear about your Artur. If only Werner will come home without broken bones.

Now to your inquiery about Adolf Schubach, as I can remember it, he died during a low level attack by british fighter bombers a few miles from Sollum. I am sending you here the newspaper death notice that Lotte has send me on request. As you might know, his brother Hans was killed in March 42 near Leningrad. I don’t know where Mathias is , his last letter came in Dec 1943. Yes, that is how it goes, one good after another falls for F.V.and V, for Fuehrer ‚Folk and Fatherland, as the saying goes, if we only were out of this cursed Russia , that would help a lot.

Well my Dear All, I will close now , the part of the newspaper map shows the arrow where we are now.

Greetings to all

Cousin Fritz ( Manheim)
