Dear Parents and Relatives!
Tuesday night now, and I got your parcel with the crumb cake it, is the 2nd parcel with cake and a tin with Butter. I also got the letter from Sept.26th and I thank you for everything. I am glad to hear that you got my parcel too, and the contend was all ok. The weight was just right, I took a bit of the 2 lb so to make it less as we are only allowed 2 lb exactly. Let me know what parcels have arrived so far. You also wrote about those that were killed, I hope that will end one day, Sebastian is gone now, that is a terrible shock. I am looking forward when Leningrad will finally fall, and how long the Russians will continue this war. I think his main Battle might is beaten now, so we shall hear more about that soon. The best thing would be that this whole lot is over soon. You send me 30 Marks ,they will be here soon, and remember when I come on furlough, I would welcome a cake. The weather has improved a bit lately, tomorrow we have a sports meeting. I am in competition too, I wrote to Franziska and she send me a large parcel, and a letter. You wrote that Karl Bauer is badly wounded, I remember he was working by the Baltic Sea last time I heard, so they took him too.
I shall eat my Crumb cake now and then go to bed. It is 7 PM , I am tired after playing soccer today.
So I hope to see you again.
Your Rudolf.
Mama, I yearn for some fried eggs, I have not had them for a long time, see if you can make and send some.
