Berlin Oct 20th 1944

My beloved Christel

I just got back from the Movie Theater to see the movie” Immensee” I have seen it before in Péssneck but I liked it so much that I decided to see it again. I wonder if everything in this world would happen like it happens in films. I don’t mean the film in itself but the whole situation in this world we live in. I did not like the end of the film much , I don’t want something like that happen . I can see that a man will stand back when he realizes , that his girl wants another man to find happiness.

How are you then, my dear Child, I am unable to put on my prostheses because on an infection of the stump. It will take 3 to 4 days to heal. One good news I have to tell you, I have been told that I can have 3 weeks vacation near Goldberg ( Lower Silesia) on a Hitler sponsorship program. I am going this Thursday, I shall write you the address , I rather would have had 3 weeks with you but I can not alter that. One thing I look forward to, I can have enough to eat for a change. I use to look better a while ago. I hope these 3 weeks bring me back to my old normal. If I don’t like it, I shall leave early anyway. I will close now so please don’t be angry with me.
