Dear beloved Edith!!

Thank you very much for the nice letter and the parcel and as I opened it, I was so hungry and within 5 minutes, the cake had disappeared . I was going to write on Sunday but I hada bit of a hangover and wanted to sleep it off. There were 3 of us who had been on a binge the night before and it was 2 AM when we made our way home again and we were very lucky not to meet up with a MP patrol at that time. On Sunday afternoon I went outside to let the wind blow the cobwebs out of my head. I hope that I will be here in 2 months time and you can come and visit me, and I look so much forward to your visit. No, I will not stay any longer than necessary in the Army, I have to much behind me now and no desire to stay on. I am glad that the 2 years are almost over, walking around in civilian Clothes is like a present from heaven. In uniform clothing one feels to much

responsibility, So I can relay on you my Edith, and I had hoped so anyway. But I hope you don’t mind me hugging you and pressing you to my heart. Now I will close dear Edith,

Greetings Your Karli.

Greetings to your parents and thank you for the parcel.
