Russia July 28th 1941

Dear All at Home !

Today I had your letter from July 11th and thank you also for the enclosed envelopes and FP# Letters that I am using now already. The enemy has started to resist on a strong defensive line at Kiev . I am so glad that you got a Prisoner of war working at the farm and he seems to be able and knows about farm work. I heard the sad news from home, the death of Franz Struckmeier and Fischer from Hameln. We all hope that in August the war with Russia will come to an end . I don’t know what else to write today. Ohh just now our observation balloon is rising the observer can see our hits at the enemy line. Good that? Many Greetings from your son

Heinrich.
