Dear All at Home !

We had two days rainy weather and now I can get the paper out and write to you, in war it is better to sweat tha get soaked by rain, This weather has hurt quite a few men and besides that, we are now once again under a storm of steel and enemy Artillery has

presented us with quite a few surprises. Our position is close to a Church , but the Bolchivicks had turned this into a Movie theater , our guns are near by. The Enemy guns are by the edge of a forest. Their heavy shells constanly exploding around us, we are having our noses in the dirt. I am lucky so fat that I have not been hurt yet , a position change we do at nights, because the Russians can oversee our area and nobody seems to know where the front line is. The Russians fire from all sides at us. We trust our leadership and God , keep on praying for me, God is the savior and will stop one day all the murder. There is nothing else to hold on in a situation like that. I had no mail for 8 days but don’t worry, just get on with your work and harvest, and Grand dad you keep well, I want to see you again soon. Look after the 3 horses , please send the front page of the news paper too, greetings to the Bredemeiers in Borstal, , where is Heini Hahn now? I hope to be around for final victory. I enclose Credit Mark for 25 Marks, take them to the bank and let me know when you had them.
