Russia Dec 15th 1941

Dear Beloved All at home !

Lately I found the time to write to you and today is not different. If the Infantry is heavy engaged in Battle and can not advance , we have a few quiet days for ourselves. Then I can write day after day. Last week we had a heavy Bombing raid on us, 30 of our Horses died and 10 of the men went to Hospital. In that night the Russians had broken through and took some of our men prisoner. I was glad I was not present at the time, we had been delayed by icy roads and our gun had ended up in a roadside ditch. Now the Break has been mended, We are here in the Donetz Industrial area and here live the most fanatial Bolchevicks. One can only be amazed to see the huge factories they have, and they had produced mainly weapons until we came. So now we are at war with America too, we had a 7 Year war, a 30 Year War, a 1914-18 war and this war will take long too. A Ceasefire with Russia is not on the cards , the war here ends when we beat the last Russians with our rifle butt. Thank you for all the parcels and the canned sausage, Apples, Cake and Cookies and the pocket knife. I am still well please write more about things from home. I want to know more about things you doing. Please burn my letters So for now I wish you a Happy New Year

Your Heinrich
