Dear Parents and Grand Dad.
Yesterday I got the parcel with the shirt and the mirror, and a letter came today. I can read that you are all well The snow has not come yet, how is the work going with the tractor? You said you will get some snow chains and I agree with that. I like to read things about our animals. Pity the electric Cooker has not arrived yet for Christmas, but you can try and buy it from any other store. Try the factory Wesertal, I am sitting here moody and think back to home. You can not imagine what a winter is like on the Russian front, dirt, lice mail is not coming on time, and when it comes, it be here all at once . Our Horses wont go anywhere, you can not imagine what it is, the horses wont go, not enough to eat for man and animal, it is no good having Horses here under these
conditions. For Christmas we all so sad, the Russian Winter has beaten us, and it seems like Napoleon in 1812. All sommer we battled bravely, and now all the happiness is gone. Dear Parents, what will become of us, that I have to live in such unhappy times, play with my health and live in this far away country. God is still with us we know , I am not sick as yet. Please Dear Parents and Opa, fall on your knees and pray for me, and God brings a change to to it all. I want to see you again, I swear I will thank God every day when we are back home again. Let me know all the news from home, for now all the very best,
All the best for the New Year your Heinrich.
