Dear Parents and Grand Dad !

Yesterday I got 2 more parcels, one with sausage and the other with apples and a few letters. One day, when I am back home I will thank you for all these things in person. I am so happy that in these hard times you have never failed to send me food parcels . Now I am looking forward to the can of Apple sauce and

something like that I look forward too. Christmas is gone now and the old year 1941 is coming to an end I hope you had a very merry Christmas, and plenty to drink , we celebrated as best as we could here. But we had no schnapps or such , but these times will come one day. Today I sit here by the stove and write, I am feeling sick, got a splitting head ache , it’s the cold that brings it about. I have lost all interest on a Soldiers life now, especially when one is overlooked at promotion time. And I could not care, even if I get prison for saying it, but please do not tell anyone at home I said that. Dear Father, you said you like the wheel chains on the tractor, and wait until spring for the full use of them. I am well and so I wish you all a happy New Year .

Greetings from Heinrich
