Dear Parents and Grand Dad!

Today is Christmas and its afternoon and I wrote to you yesterday and I never had a Christmas like that. We are in a Village School and around us somewhere the Russians attacking, shells howling over us and exploding somewhere in the rear. And all that on Christmas day, , at night we have to stay on Sentry duty in this cold. All the Christmas parcels came with all the nice things, Sausage , Ham, Mirror, Cookies and even a parcel from

Bleidisfeld, and Borstal, many , many thanks to all of you. Have you prayed over Grandmas Grave yet? I am also glad that you got the wheel chains for the tractor, Dear Parents, let me know what is going on at home , we are in a somber mood today everyone was promoted exept me.

Heinrich.
