Russia Feb 11th 1942

Dear Parents and Grand dad !

I am on my own here in a Russian hut and write a quick letter. I am suffering from a tonsil inflammation and feel a bit better but I will stay in the warmth for another day here. I am waiting for getting your parcels and had none since Jan 4th. How are you all at home? Let us hope that you do not get sick this winter . Have you got much feed for the cows? Give plenty of beet cuttings to the horses, how much clover are you going to sow next season and in which field? Make sure you get the electric cooker soon and the manure speader of course. A Mechanical rake is only good with a potato harvester machine. Buy that and you don’t have to borrow one and pay. Change the oil on the tractor often enough, and try to get a blower for the hay and straw . Spend your money on things that makes your work easier I will send all my Money home to help. Do me that favor please. Greetings for now

Heinrich.
