Dear Beloved !

I will write now despite the fact that I am not having much time to do so. We have a nice warm noon day here, our lunch we had just now in the large mess hall and it was very good. We do get plenty of that, we start the day at 6 AM, and the day ends at 7 PM. I do my interesting job on the Gun and in the class room . Marching and parades are also hard no excuses are accepted. Us Gunners are trained according to prepared plan . The Sgt are trained by the Officers and the Sgts train us then. With full gear we hop, run, walk , crawl, clamber over a 12 ft high wire fence and if the Singing is not right, we chased a few laps around the athletic stadium. Well, father and Grand dad you might know it all and I am amazed about myself the things I an doing now, if someone would tell me I am ok for civilian life now, I would tell him he is crazy. But I feel very well, I could pull out trees I think. We seem to get thinner like goats and as fast as whippets. Tough as old leather and hard as Krupp Steel they say. Well, we are here to be trained as soldiers not to get fat by eating. One thing I don’t like are the many injections from the Dr 2 in the arm 3 in the chest but I sleep well while others get the shivers. I am trained as a gunner on the telescope we seem to be guinea pigs here , they try all things out. Today we had to give a blood sample taken from the ear, to determine the blood group. Mine had the group A, Then today we were issued a dog tag and some say that we are earmarked for combat duty. Well, we shall do our Duty wherever the Führer Adolf Hitler put us. In the next few days new Recruits will arrive and they might transfer us to Bergen Something we do get here that we never had back home in Rehern , Alerts, 3 times I have been now in the shelter but right now I have other worries.

On Sunday we have the first pass to go out and I have no money. I have to stay in, but please send me 10 Marks as soon as you can . The Beer from our Mess Hall is good too .

I will close now and eat a bit more of your sausage and drink some cocoa.

Greetings to you all Heinrich
