Dear Parents and Grand Dad !

You have to believe me when I say that I don’t have much time to write. Since I am in the Infantry I have a lot of marching on my feet to do and on top of it, I am the tallest and have to carry the heavy Machine Gun yes, we have been sold down the river, I never get away from the Infantry now unless I get a wooden leg one day. Had I known that in Braunschweig, I would have asked to join a motorized Battalion ,right now it is quiet here at the front but how long until it starts here too. I have not had mail from you yet why? Hope all is well at home like I am.

Greetings Heinrich
