Dear Erich and Lina.

Greetings from far away Russia . No I am not opening old wounds when I tell you, that a year ago these days , both your Artur’s were killed , in Russia and J still think of them a lot. May the Lord give you the peace and knowledge, that the same faith will not happen to Werner. Let me know where he is and his FP # . I am now near the Romanian Border and a new strong offensive attack by the Russians is expected any day now. So far I have been lucky, if you have the time, go and see Else in Sömmerda, she would be glad to see you, Egon is 6 now and is going to school at

Heidweiher.

I will close now, sending you a few photos and a poem.

“UNVERZAGT” = Undaunted.

Undaunted!

When lights in heaven flicker. You will see God working in the fields, even: far away bad weather will not stop the harvest. If wood sheaves are fallen today in your work, abandon your plans let them hold out in storms, the wheels of faith will keep on rolling. To find that precious jewel.
