Dear Parents.
Sending you Greetings from here and I hope all is well at home. Thank you for the letters # 3-4-5 and the parcels from # 1 to # 15 and 2 parcels from Ketschaus in Udestedt. Also a letter from Edwin. A lot ha changed here lately, our Company was moved, and we have new recruits too. So we have to do the same duty as before. We just about have enough of it all. Even the Drill Instructor is fed up. No chance of a furlough yet. I don’t like the Army service at all now. I just hope that this war will be over soon.It has gone cold here too, there is frost about all day now, how is the weather at home? Can you get into the fields to work yet? Did Marie come back ?
When I opened the meat tin, I found it delicious and I made it last for 8 days. I did not get any parcel stamps for January but I send you 4 this month. I am back in good health now, except for the cold. I will close now and send you greetings and hope for a reunion.
Your Werner.
