East April 27th 1942

Dear Parents.

Yesterday I got 4 small parcels from you, and I thank you very much.@ with Pepper cake, one with crumble cake, all was good , the letters were April 12 the 14th. 1 am well and I am still with our good Company but we have much work on now, and working on improving roads, because in this mire, mo wheeled vehicle get through. The rodas we build are made of tree trunks we lay across the road. We also just finished our log house and we share with 15 of us. The weather is not as good as it was, a very cold wind but it dries the mud. In places it is already dry. Did you hear the Speech from our Fuhrer on the Radio? We have a Radio and heard it too. How is your weather? You wanted to know how I got to this place? On a sledge in fact. Send me some Cigarettes please.

Greetings to all of you

Rudolf
