Dear Parents and Sisters!
Thank you for the letter that I got here last Sunday. You see I am still here and that is good, the longer I am here the better it is. One day this nice time is over and will not come back. We all are anxious to see what is in store for us. The latest is the formation of a so called Volks Storm, and every one has to serve if the enemy invades our country. We doubt if the Volks Storm can hold off the mass of attackers, there should be at least a new weapon coming. Are Georg and Walter called up into this new Army? Maybe Dad as well? They will have to fight if the enemy comes nearer on all fronts. Well, we can not do much about it all only wonder what will happen. Yesterday the Bombers were here too, last Saturday the bombed Brüx and demolished it, yesterday it was Schacht’s turn, the houses by the Bus station to Obernau had it this time. Also here in Niedergeorgenthal a lot of fire bombs fell. You wanted some onions? Well , I shall make a parcel ready for you, and I got some bread too. You might want that too.
Nothing else to write now, the weather is bad, same as yours I suppose, lets hope the war is over soon. Who knows what will follow. All the best for now and Greetings.
Rudolf.
