Russia Sept 27th 1942
Dear Parents !
Today its 2 weeks since I had the last letter from you and so I hope that you are all well, like with me. You can be proud now of your son, yesterday I got the Panzer Battle Medal , that came about as our Battery had knocked out the 25th Russian tank but the problem is, you knock out one, and like out of a Pandora Box, 2 more appear from somewhere. At times we shake our heads wondering were the Russians get them all from, the Panzer Factory in Stalingrad is almost ours anyway. But our Battery was lucky so far, we only had 3 men wounded yet. On the whole, the fight for Stalingrad will be over soon the Russians can not hold on forever and our Stukas seek them out in their hidings, wherever that maybe. I would like you to send me some sugar or sweetener for my tea, I don’t need anything right now , and Christmas is still 3 Months away. By that time we hope the fighting is over here and we can look forward to a deserved furlough.
I must close now, there is an Alert on now.
With many Greetings Edmund
Greetings to Mina and Jorgen.
