O.U. April 19th 1944
Dear Brother and Sister in Law!
I have to tell you that I had no answer yet to my application, but not to worry, how are you? Are you all well and I good health? We have left Greece now and are in Croatia so that is not far from home really. But I rather would have stayed in Greece , there we could go and buy things and had plenty to eat. But its different here, my salary all I can get here is 2 shots of Schnapps so you know how expensive things are here. Live is no bed on roses either here, to many Partisans around. I enclose you the letter from the council, and it is pointless that I do something about it now. The Circumstances have changed a lot since my application. We both have to provide some extras for mother. So let me know what you think. Wishing you all the best
Hermann.
