Holland January 26th 1945

Dear Martin, Wife and Children.

I was very happy to get another letter from you, and thank you very much. It will from now on much longer before we can expect mail from home because the fast trains are attacked often now. The Christmas parcels that you send have not arrived yet, and that goes for many other Comrades too. I hope you had mail from Gerhard, its been a while since he wrote. I wrote to him but had no answer yet. How fast time runs, January is coming to an end and Spring is not far away. We had much snow but it was not very cold. But one needs a coat to go outside on the bike. How is it at home ? Like here in Holland? And what about the East, the best men have again to go out to protect our Fatherland , the civilians are driven out of the eastern Provinces and have to leave everything behind and march trough the cold towards the west. Please let there be a miracle soon, yesterday and today we had no air raids, but the beloved Fatherland was not spared by the Tommies , what will these swine’s have in store for us? Or will they make peace?

So to all of you Greetings from your Uncle Bruno.

From: Sgt Bruno Annold FP # 22 849 = Luftwaffe Field Battalion 109
