Dear All at Home !
Today I got a long letter from you at home, and from each sentence I can read that you are worried about me. But please do not worry , there is no reason for that, you have to keep your spirit up to do all the work. Don’t let that suffer. We all have to do our best as we can and do our duty. I am always careful, I don’t volunteer, because this has cost the life of many Comrade. I also rely on your prayers, on mine and on Gods, Grace and I am convinced that one day I will be back in the Holy German Reich . Believe me, it is not an easy feeling digging a grave for a good Comrade many a day and put a birch wood cross on it. We all fight for a better Germany and so that no other Nation in the world will try again to attack us. So dear Father, stop raking your brains or you end up in the ditch with your tractor. At present we are exchanging fire with Russian Artillery and proceeding to surround the Russians at Kiev. We targeting a Rail Connection that the Russians use to bring re-enforcement into the City. Normally I should keep a diary but later in life I don’t want to remember these hard times. I have seen and heard to much already If bread is getting scarce in my life, I can alkl it hunger so please send parcels as best as you can. A Cake or something at times, and let me know about other men in Rehren. There is no one from the Aue Valley here , Stay in good health and Greetings from your
