Russia Sept 30™ 1941
Dear beloved All !
Yesterday and today I received a bunch of parcels and 2 bags as well. Sausage, Maggi cubes, Candy and a can of cooked meat. I can see from the letters that you are well and the same goes for me. The Harvest is over at home and now its potato lifting time, The tractor was a big help I reckon , so how is the fruit harvest this year? I hope you made enough to sell some of it. I hope you had the 30 Marks I mailed in August. Dear Father, did you hear the special news on the Radio about the huge Battle east of Kiev, we capture 665 000 Russians, more than 3000 Artillery guns and other material we got. Tomorrow we will start the advance again this time in the direction of Charkov. It looks like we shall be always in the forefront of the advance . Our Division was the main Unit engaged in the Battle for Kiev but other units will stay behind as occupational troops , just keep on praying for me . Today I met up with Erich Licht here . Now then I will close and send Greetings.
Your Son Heinrich
