Dear Parents !
I have not so much time to write to you but I am well, and in the last few days I had 3 large parcels and 6 smaller ones from October. Thank you very much but please make sure that you pack them well, one parcel was torn open I also got the large can and I am glad that now, since we have frost, mail arrives again here. Trucks manage to get here despite shell holes, the apples I got were like ice balls but tasted ok. Dear Mother, enclose Butter in each parcel and send Plums as well as Apples, and a pot Cake or white Bread. Don’t put to much eggs in the cake . We are at the front today and tomorrow we suppose to attack and throw the Russians out of his positions. Dear Father and Mother, you can not imagine what it is like to wage war in winter in Russia, I know you would cry if you see at times what is going on here, one looks at life from a different angle here in the war. I have never paryed so much in all my life as I did here. Dear Parents, I just mailed 90 Marks via M.O to you and did you get the other 100 Marks? I send it so you can buy the electric cooker for Mother. When will it come? So now I wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year
Your Heinrich.
