Dear Parents/and Grand Dad,

Another month of the winter is ending today but the winter itself is still strong. /I got a new Winter Quarter we in the town now of Debalzewo and I don’t know whether you would find it on a map. We are 3 in a house with the people. We are only 1 Kilometer from the front line here and every night we go on patrol in the town. In daytime I search for straw for the horses, We lose a lot of horses, thay all die , lack of food , we are unable to attack now, and maybe we will be send back in spring. What is new at home? Iam well, I can only write the same every time, and I am always hungry. If you can send me some parcels with fat and sausage. Also beet syrup I would like. If the parcel restrictions allow only 100 gram parcels, send me fat but no Cigarettes. Put the fat in a cigarette case. Today I mailed 120 Marks again just buy

something with it Father.

So for now all the very best/

Don’t forget, burn all my letters Heinrich.
